Need a Valentine’s Plan, Stan?

We don’t generally make a big fuss about Valentine’s Day but every now and then, it’s nice to plan a little something special, and what better excuse than Valentine’s Day, right?  Well, for us, it’s usually the fact that we celebrate our wedding anniversary on the 8th of February, so there’s that – but who’s counting?

Anyway, I know that V-Day is a big one for many folks and that flowers and chocolates simply don’t cut it for the hardcore romantics out there, so I thought I’d share this fabulous offer from The Maslow with you, in case you’re stuck for something special to spoil your love with this coming Thursday. So, here’s the deal, in their own words:

The Maslow presents the deliciously-romantic way to celebrate Valentine’s Day

The scene is set for romance at the trendy yet ever gracious The Maslow in Sandton on Valentine’s Day. A simply sumptuous menu, indulgent Pongrácz and the sophisticated setting of the Lacuna Urban Bistro overlooking the hotel’s tranquil oasis garden combine to make it an encompassing experience.

“Valentine’s dinner at Lacuna Urban Bistro is always a special experience, with a lavish menu in an exquisite setting. We’ve dubbed this years’ experience as Cupid’s Treat for good reason. It is a treat for all of the senses,” says Justin Jonah, Executive Chef at The Maslow Sandton.

As always, the culinary team presents a beautifully crafted dinner that speaks to the heart. The Amuse Bouche comprises oysters Rockefeller, lemon caviar, oyster leaves followed by the starter, salmon poke consisting of rice spheres, crispy salmon, Asian leaf, sesame and lime. Entrée is a homemade roast chicken broth with wild mushrooms, Parmesan crème, pea and soft-poached egg. For mains, there is a choice between a masterfully prepared beef wellington and sea bass with prawn and mussel bouillabaisse, potato and fennel Rosti with grilled limes. Dessert is made for sharing; a rich chocolate “soup” with mignardises, meringues and wild berries. The gastronomical experience culminates with a cheese board of Karel crumble, watermelon preserves and Melba toast. The cost per head is R550 per person. Couples can turn their Valentine’s Day into a romantic mini-getaway by staying over at The Maslow. Now, I don’t know about you, but this sounds like something I could definitely go for!

I was lucky enough to score an invitation to the launch of The Maslow’s fabulous #MusgraveGinPinkFridays gin cocktail events back in October last year, and have been looking forward to having another reason to go there.

So, if you haven’t made any plans yet, check out The Maslow this Valentine’s Day – a gorgeous getaway right here in Jozi, with loads of sensual sophistication to set the mood.
